Homeschool Classes

HOME SCHOOL

Grades/Ages: 7 yrs & up

Instructor: Mimi Mason

6 week course     1-1/2 hrs each week

Classes will include drawing with graphite and colored pencils, painting using water based paint, print-making, hand built clay project, metal, wire work, fiber and other mixed medium materials. The emphasis in this method is a classical study of drawing and painting allowing a student's independent imaginative and creative spirit to soar. Advanced students will be encouraged to build on their desired medium and work more independently with the teacher acting as more of a mentor and facilitator. New and intermediate students will watch demonstrations and have instruction with specific goals for learning the basics of composition and design within each discipline. This class will foster a well-rounded familiarity in the different disciplines offered. "Process learning" will be promoted in the class with the hope of students desiring to work freely and happily toward producing works of art they are proud of. Therefore, Mimi is more interested in each student trying and learning new skills and having fun with art experimentation than having a project that they will carry home each week that is mass produced and not individual in its creation. You will learn about Oklahoma, American and world artists, past and present who have worked in the various mediums we study.
Class size is limited to 8.

Mondays: 2:00-3:30
