A Partnership between
The Fine Arts Institute & the Edmond Public Schools
With the goal of providing cultural enrichment for the Edmond
community, the Fine Arts Institute looks upon art as a part of a
well-rounded education. The Art in Schools program extends the reach
of art instruction to the 3rd and 4th grades, taught by faculty
members from the Fine Arts Institute. This innovative program has
brought FAI art teachers into six elementary schools in Edmond,
reaching over 1,400 children with hands-on art instruction. With the
inclusion of art in these students’ curriculum, test scores have
improved.
Children in 3rd and 4th grades at Ida Freeman, Orvis Risner, Sunset,
Northern Hills, Will Rogers, and Charles Haskell Elementary Schools
are benefitting from this partnership. Fine Arts Institute faculty
members included are: Shannon Price, Emily Myer, Mimi Mason, Beth
Olson and Amanda Harmer.
The Art in Schools program is made possible by public and private
funding. The Fine Arts Institute is Edmond's non-profit community arts
organization offering educational enrichment to youth and adults in
the visual and performing arts.
EDMOND PUBLIC SCHOOLS
With funds from the EPS, Edmond Arts & Humanities Council, and the Rotary Club of Edmond, FAI art teachers reach 800 3rd & 4th graders each week with hands-on art instruction at four elementary schools. Test scores have improved dramatically at those schools.
EDMOND WOMEN'S CLUB
With EWC funding, FAI faculty members present hands-on art workshops for 2nd & 4th graders in the Edmond Public Schools. 1,600 students' art skills are enriched with these workshops.
