CLASSICAL ART TRAINING ATELIER
This
new FAI program is based on the teaching methods of the ninete
enth-century
Academic tradition, offering the opportunity to study classical drawing and
painting techniques with Leslie Lienau.
It is for the student who has serious intentions for long term study. The
curriculum is designed to provide fundamental skills in drawing and painting
using direct observation with a strong emphasis on using the block-in to
accurately translate size, proportion, line and the rendering of light and
shade in both drawing media and paint.

A
step-by-step system of study is applied, beginning with the academic method of
drawing. With exercises and practice drawing
from the still life, cast, head and clothed figure the student’s drawing skills will
improve. With the acquired drawing skills learned, the art and science of
painting will be taught using exercises from cast painting, still life painting
as well as the clothed figure and head paintings.
The 16 week course will include 3 hours of class time per week. Leslie will work with each student on an individual basis using demonstration, lecture and critique.

Saturdays 9:00 - 12:00 pm beginning January 9, 2010
